Background

I've had the pleasure of being involved with MD since 2018 and leading the creative direction for the competition seasons.

When first joining MD, the role of design was entirely new. As a result, I was in charge of developing the role responsibilities and delineating what it would entail while simultaneously fulfilling the role. Throughout this process, I worked to create a distinct online presence for the organization and in the community that would be engaging for the audience. By creating a consistent visual design presence for the first time and utilizing strategic marketing with our content, we could triple the following and engagement on social media.

Each year, a new visual identity is developed for the season to differentiate ourselves in the circuit. The design pieces then focus on implementing the visual identity to all our platforms and content created from print to digital and ensuring a cohesive and unified presence.

2019–2020

The theme for this competition season was "psychedelic" and inspired by baugasm.

This branding utilizes striking color combinations and gradients with typography and shape forms. Photography and imagery were kept black and white to not conflict with the colors and gradients. This page includes videos that have fast flashing colors and music. Autoplay has been turned off for them, so please click to watch.
